We’ve all bought cars we regret, right? But have you ever wondered about the absolute worst ones? Check out our list of the top 10 worst cars ever made.

Although there aren’t many awful cars these days, there have been some real stinkers in the past. In this article, we’ll talk about the worst ones. Some of these are just awful to drive while others can be even dangerous.

1. Suzuki X90

For years, Suzuki has been known for selling affordable, compact vehicles globally, although some have been poorly designed. Due to their low quality, Suzuki cars are mainly sold in specific regions where price matters more. Among Suzuki’s worst models was the X90, which suffered from many problems with distribution and frequent engine failures.

2. Quandt Group Amphicar

In the 1960s, Germany saw the creation of the Amphicar Model 770, a unique hybrid of car and boat. Despite being produced only in small numbers throughout the decade, it failed as a car due to significant mechanical issues, particularly with its steering.

3. Smart Fortwo

The Smart ForTwo hit the market in the early 2000s but was quickly phased out due to its lack of safety and risky driving dynamics. In case of a crash, occupants faced a high risk of severe injuries.

4. Zastava Automobiles Yugo

The Yugo, made by Zastava Automobiles, is dubbed as one of the worst cars ever made. Eventually, Zastava Automobiles was bought out by Fiat Motors. The little Yugo was built with extremely cheap materials that wore out fast, leading to frequent repairs.

5. Morgan Motor Company Plus 8 Propane

The 1975 Plus 8 Propane was a flop, mostly because of propane leaks that led to significant mechanical problems. While the idea of using propane as fuel was promising, the car’s design fell short.

6. American Motors (AMC) Gremlin

For many decades, American Motors was a prominent car brand, despite developing some rather lackluster car designs. One of these became an icon of pop culture: the Gremlin, a vehicle known for being difficult to drive, uncomfortable, and noisy.

7. Triumph Motor Company Stag

The design of the Triumph Stag was well-received by the market and wasn’t the reason for the car’s failure. Instead, the problem lay with its distribution, as the timing chain needed replacement almost every two years. Production of all models was halted in the early 2000s.

8. Fiat Multipla

Fiat Multipla is a compact coupe that gained some popularity in Italy but was plagued by a lack of adequate safety features. Moreover, it was never deemed reliable, with many buyers encountering numerous issues after reaching 50,000 kilometers. As Fiat customers well know, the major problems are more related to the technological aspects than the mechanical ones.

9. Trabant 1975

It was a small car company from East Germany that exclusively produced compact models. From the first day of production until its closure, the Trabant didn’t make any changes or improvements to its models, all of which suffered from the same issue: excessive exhaust emissions.

10. Ford Pinto

Although Ford is a respected brand in Western countries, it gained a notorious reputation for designing some of the world’s worst cars. Take the Ford Pinto, for example, a compact car quite unlike other models of its time. It became famous as one of the most dangerous cars in history due to its fuel tank. In fact, it consistently caught fire in accidents.
