Wondering what are the worst cryptocurrencies you should steer clear of? That’s a question on many new crypto traders’ minds.

Since Bitcoin’s inception in 2009, the cryptocurrency market has skyrocketed. But not all of them are winners. After discussing the top 10 best cryptocurrencies, let’s now explore the 10 worst ones to avoid.

1. Bitcoin SV (BSV)

BSV, a cryptocurrency born from the split with Bitcoin Cash in 2018, struggles to gain traction due to internal divisions. Despite being a top ten cryptocurrency by market cap, its future remains uncertain. Founder Craig Wright‘s controversial claims of being Bitcoin’s creator without solid proof further undermine BSV’s credibility.

2. Monereo (XMR)

Monero faced a tough time, dropping to $146 with a 12% decline this year. Binance’s delisting due to compliance issues caused a sharp 30% drop to $114.26. Known for privacy, Monero faces challenges from regulatory concerns. Its future depends on addressing these while maintaining appeal to privacy-seeking users.

3. NEO

Developed in China in 2014, NEO is often called “Chinese Ethereum” due to its similarity to Ethereum’s blockchain. While designed for smart contracts and a smart economy, it faces challenges competing with Ethereum. Despite some investor optimism, NEO’s future remains uncertain.

4. Bitcoin Gold (BTG)

In 2017, the Bitcoin blockchain split, giving birth to BTG with the aim of decentralizing Bitcoin. Yet, it didn’t fare well. Despite addressing mining centralization, it struggles against specialized hardware, resulting in a continuous market cap decrease. Moreover, BTG is predicted to decline further.

5. Ethereum Classic (ETC)

Ethereum’s 2016 fork birthed ETC amid debates over handling the DAO hack. Yet, ETC’s growth stagnated. Most developers and users shifted to the new Ethereum chain, leaving ETC with a smaller community and less support. Additionally, rising competition from other blockchain projects adds to its market cap woes.

6. IOTA (IOTA)

IOTA, tailored for Internet of Things applications, encounters hurdles despite its unique Tangle technology. Predicted to decline further, its adoption struggles hamper its potential, which makes it one of the worst cryptocurrencies to invest in. However, experts see promise in its ability to facilitate machine-to-machine transactions amid IoT sector growth.

7. DOGE (DOGE)

Dogecoin, a meme cryptocurrency born in 2013, gained popularity but hasn’t become a serious investment. Despite its widespread use, it faced a decline last year due to limited practical applications and increasing competition in the crypto market.

8. Sole (SOLE)

This blockchain protocol tackles scalability issues using Proof of History, reaching up to 710 transactions per second. Despite its innovative scalability approach, low adoption and market interest hinder its success. Without significant improvements to boost utility and attract more users, the token’s value is likely to keep dropping.

9. Flow (FLOW)

Flow’s flow saw an 83% reduction last year. While the bearish market may be a factor, reasons for investor selling aren’t clear. Increased regulation may also contribute, making investors more cautious. Whether Flow will rebound or continue to decline remains uncertain.

10. Starknet (STRK)

Starknet (STRK) token, launched recently, has experienced a decline, currently trading at $2.47. This drop occurred as STRK tokens lost half their value shortly after trading began, mainly due to issues surrounding its launch event. Despite over 100,000 wallet claims, skepticism arose about the scheduled unlocking of tokens over an extended period.
